‘Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One’ Trailer: The Acclaimed Dark Knight Story Gets Animated

The first official trailer for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One has been released. The upcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie is an adaptation of the 13-issue limited comic book series that was originally published by DC Comics in the mid-nineties.

Oh yeah, this looks pretty good. And after seeing that trailer, I’m even more sure that this will also be set in the same universe that began with Superman: Man of Tomorrow. I voiced that theory the other day when the official voice cast was announced and now I’m thinking I may be correct. It helps when the team behind Man of Tomorrow is also behind this adaptation.

Part One had been rated PG-13 while Part Two has earned an R-rating. The R-rating definitely piques my interest, so I’m guessing Part One will be doing a lot of setup for a very bloody conclusion. Either way, I’m hoping to read the collected graphic novel before the two-parter hits home video this summer.

Plot Synopsis:

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham’s young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city’s only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family. But when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that, instead of ordinary gang violence, they’re also dealing with a serial killer – the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World’s Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One hits home video this spring. Part Two is set to come out in the fall.
