‘Chaos Walking’ Trailer: The Long Delayed Tom Holland-Daisy Ridley Film is Finally Here

Lionsgate has released an official trailer for Chaos Walking. The film is based on The Knife of Never Letting Go, the first in a series of books by author Patrick Ness.

Okay, here are my honest opinions. First, Chaos Walking looks like a great film from the outside. It’s got Doug Liman as director, and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man) as leads. That’s a lot of serious talent right there.

However, this film has been delayed for years. Apparently, the original cut was deemed “unreleasable” and Lionsgate spent millions on reshoots. Did that help? Who knows, but the January release date doesn’t really scream “I’m confident this film will make us our budget back”.

I do like the idea that all men’s inner thoughts are just spoken out loud. I’m going to have to read The Knife of Never Letting Go to see how Ness pulls that off in writing.

Plot Synopsis:

In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

Chaos Walking hits theaters January 22, 2021.
