Daredevil: Born Again debuted on Disney+ last week, and so far the numbers aren’t quite what you’d expect for a continuation of the beloved Daredevil series that aired on Netflix from 2015 through 2018.

Biggest Streaming Debut of 2025 on Disney+

Variety reports (via Disney) that the latest Marvel series lured in 7.5 million viewers in its first five days on the platform, making it the biggest streaming debut on Disney+ thus far in 2025. That last bit sounds pretty good. Unless you consider its competition.

Win or Lose, Season 2 of A Real Bug’s Life, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (two animated shows and a docuseries) don’t seem like the highest bar to measure a highly anticipated live-action show like Daredevil: Born Again against, but I don’t suppose you can fault Disney for wanting to spin the show as a success.

But what about its live-action competition?

Crushed by Agatha All Along and The Acolyte

As Variety also points out, Agatha All Along, another Marvel show, managed 9.3 million viewers in its first week last year for a single episode compared to Born Again’s 7.5 million for two episodes.

How about a more apples-to-apples comparison?

Like Born Again, Star Wars streaming series The Acolyte also premiered with two episodes, and even though it was almost universally disliked by fans, it managed to pull in 11.1 million views in its first five days on Disney+.

Maybe word of mouth and solid critic and audience scores will help the show find its audience. But at the moment, Daredevil: Born Again looks to be floundering around like a blind man.
