‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Set Photos Confirm Long-Awaited MCU Return of 2 Major Netflix Characters

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In case you still had doubt, the latest set photos for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 have officially confirmed that the entirety of Netflix’s The Defenders Saga is canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite bringing back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye (and then both in Echo), Marvel Studios initially refused to make these versions the same ones that appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil. In fact, it wasn’t until the 2023 Hollywood strikes that Marvel saw how terrible its original version of Born Again looked, which led to the studio finally caving and making the Defenders Saga canon to the MCU, leading to reshoots on Born Again Season 1 that saved what would have been a huge misfire.

Those Born Again reshoots brought back about half a dozen Daredevil alums that were originally not set to appear in the original version, including Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk.

Born Again Season 2, no longer tethered to part of an inferior season, has been free to fully move the series closer to the original Daredevil and the wider Defenders Saga. Krysten Ritter is returning later this season as Jessica Jones, while Royce Johnson and Toby Leonard Moore will also pop up as Daredevil characters Brett Mahoney and James Wesley, respectively.

Now, with Season 3 filming, fans have just been treated to two major Netflix/Marvel reprisals. So yeah, this was a lot of writing to give a little buffer between the spoiler pictures that will be below. You’ve been warned.

The Defenders Reassemble in Born Again Season 3

Per Entertainment Weekly and X, Mike Colter and Finn Jones, who played Luke Cage and Danny Rand / Iron Fist, respectively, in the Defenders Saga, were spotted on the set of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 with Ritter. Luke Cage and Iron Fist have not been seen in the MCU since their shows ended in 2018.

With Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 not even halfway done yet, it’s unclear how Luke Cage and Iron Fist will be worked into the Season 3 storyline, although showrunner Dario Scardapane has confirmed that the Mayor Fisk storyline will be concluded this season. Is Daredevil going to prison? Will the Defenders reunite in Daredevil’s absence? Will Elektra also be resurrected? So many questions and no answers right now.

In the meantime, Marvel fans can tune in every Tuesday at 6 PM PT for a new episode of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ until May 5, 2026. The spinoff Special Presentation, The Punisher: One Last Kill, starring Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle / The Punisher, will then be released the following week on May 12, 2026.
