‘Fantasy Island’ Trailer: Blumhouse Reimagines the Popular TV Series

Sony has just released the official Fantasy Island trailer, and if you were a fan of the late 70s/early 80s TV series you might be disappointed.

That’s a whole lot of meh from me, Screenagers.

I grew up watching Fantasy Island, Gilligan’s Island, and Batman ’66. I loved the fantastical and supernatural elements of the show. The possibility of living out your wildest dreams, and maybe seeing that it’s not all you thought it would be. This trailer teases that aspect of the series, and then goes into full blown horror that looks like it could be from any CGI-infested flick.

Also, Michael Peña as Mr. Roarke?! That’s an interesting character revamp to say the least. Oh, but it’s been confirmed that Tattoo won’t even appear! I think Blumhouse is living in a fantasy. They should have either made a faithful Fantasy Island film, or just taken the premise of the series and crafted an original story with a different title not connected to the beloved series.

Plot Synopsis:

In Blumhouse’s new spin on Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

Fantasy Island hits theaters February 14, 2020.

What do you guys think of Blumhouse’s updated version of Fantasy Island? Also, can you see the face in the poster?
