The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping continues to put together an insanely stacked cast of talented young actors.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Kelvin Harrison, Jr. has been cast as Beetee, champion of the 34th Hunger Games. Jeffrey Wright portrayed an older version of the character in the franchise’s original quadrilogy.
Harrison recently voiced Taka / Scar in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. His other notable film credits include portraying slain political activist Fred Hampton in Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 and musician B.B. King in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. On the small screen, he portrayed Martin Luther King in the Nat Geo miniseries Genius: MLK/X.
Who Else Is Part of the Sunrise on the Reaping Cast?
So far, the Reaping cast includes Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Haymitch’s girlfriend Lenore Dove Bair, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner. Glenn Close is also said to be circling a role in the prequel spinoff, although sources say it’s unclear whether a deal will be struck or not.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. For the unfamiliar, that’s the Hunger Games that Haymitch Abernathy won. Francis Lawrence, who has helmed every entry but the first Hunger Games movie, will direct.
Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to hit theaters on November 20, 2026.
