Kat Coiro to Direct Tatiana Maslany as ‘She-Hulk’

Well this has been a big week for She-Hulk news. Marvel has found both its director and star for the upcoming Disney+ series.

Kat Coiro (It’s Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaDead to MeBrooklyn Nine-Nine) is currently in negotiations to helm the pilot (and other episodes) of the She-Hulk series, as well as serving as executive producer.

Additionally, Marvel has cast Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) as Jennifer Walters, “a lawyer who, after an injury, received an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, and acquired a milder version of his Hulk condition. As such, Walters becomes a large, powerful green-hued version of herself; however, unlike Banner, she still largely retains her personality – in particular, she retains the majority of her intelligence and emotional control, although like Hulk, she is still susceptible to outbursts of temper and becomes much stronger if enraged. In later issues of the comics, her transformation is permanent.”

Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao is in charge of the writer’s room for the series, and if these new additions to She-Hulk are any indication it looks like the show is still on track for a 2022 premiere.

I haven’t seen Orphan Black, but I’ve heard great things about the Canadian born actress. Maslany has range, and will no doubt be able to hold herself on screen against other acclaimed actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She-Hulk is one of several MCU shows in the works at Disney+. Also in development/filming are The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, HawkeyeMs. Marvel, and Moon Knight.

We’ll keep you updated on anymore news regarding She-Hulk. Stay tuned.

What do you think of Maslany as She-Hulk? Are you excited to see her portray Hulk’s cousin?
