Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood & Julia Davis Board ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Reboot

Legendary’s The Toxic Avenger reboot is beginning to assemble quite the cast.

Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, and Julia Davis have all boarded the upcoming reboot of the ultra-low-budget 1984 film that spawned a wildly popular cult franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bacon will play “a slick (and likely over the top) villain” in the new movie. Sources are keeping quiet on who Wood and Davis will play.

The three actors join a cast that already includes Peter Dinklage in the lead role as Toxie, Jacob Tremblay as his son, and Taylor Paige as Toxie’s girlfriend. Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore) is writing and directing the feature.

The Toxic Avenger follows “a struggling everyman who, when pushed into a vat of toxic waste, is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends, and his community from the forces of corruption and greed.”

No word yet on when filming might begin or when we can expect to see this in theaters. We’ll keep you posted.
