‘Night Hunter’ (1996) Video Review

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I grew up on late-night cable movies. Karate movies, skinamax movies, horror, sci-fi–all of the wonderful kind kind of trash I talk about here on this channel. That’s where I discovered Don “the Dragon” Wilson. His movies weren’t great (no better or worse than the rest of the trash I’d watch on late night Showtime) but Don is hard not to like–he exudes a kind of blue collar charisma and he always seemed dedicated to whatever ridiculous role he was playing.

While Night Hunter (1996) might be the Dragon’s biggest miss, somewhere under the asinine shaky cam work and the out-of-place mariachi soundtrack is a movie that actually means it. And sincerity counts for something with me. Especially these days.

In this week’s Dhalhouse video, I dig into why this Blade predecessor is a big fail but still worth watching if you are into this kind of late night B-movie flotsam.
