Power Rankings: Parody/Spoof Films

“If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re cooked.” The lovely and often butt of jokes, Elizabeth Taylor once said about herself. For all the movies and genres that take themselves way too seriously, we have decided to turn it up to 11 this week with our best picks for parody and spoof type films. These films are simply “in on the joke” that is film making or even real life sometimes.  They are able to tap into what so many take serious and point their finger at them and laugh hysterically.

After intense research into this particular genre which included a google machine and clicking on the first Wikipedia link, our crack research team was able to track down the first ever parody called The Little Train Robbery in 1905.The film was parodying-parroting-parodicicing-1903’s The Great Train Robbery. This was a sequel but this time they used an all children cast. The genre would continue growing till the 70’s and 80’s where it would explode. These films have been common place in order to capitalize on something popular or just something easy to make fun of like horror fans, actors themselves,and the worst of all…Star Wars nerds.
