‘Promising Young Woman’ Trailer: She’s Out to Right the Wrongs of the Past

Focus Features has just released the official trailer for Promising Young Woman, starring Carey Mulligan, and I think this just became a film to keep an eye out for playing in your theaters next year.

I am digging the premise behind this film. We only get a brief hint at what happened to Cassie that ended her career before it began, but there’s a good chance it involved a professor and some inappropriate behavior.

That said, it looks like Cassie has devoted her life to luring guys into trying to take advantage of her only for her to then teach them a lesson. Is that lesson deadly? The trailer leaves that vague as it wants you to watch the film. All I know is that no one seems to be the good guys. Everyone is out for something.

Plot Synopsis:

From visionary director Emerald Fennell (Killing Eve) comes a delicious new take on revenge. Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman… until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.

Promising Young Woman hits theaters April 17, 2020.
