Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.
Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.
Like clockwork, we’re back with another installment in our “Settle the Debate” series. So, it’s the holiday season, meaning that our Christmas lists have begun popping off again. You may have seen our 20 Greatest Christmas Characters list back in the carousel last week because of the renewed interest (and readership).
Well, reading the comments of a 4-year-old article can be quite humorous, especially when it has to do with commenters not understanding how Sailor puts together a list. Hint: It involves an often bizarre set of rules. For instance, 2020 Sailor revealed that “Nothing from Gremlins or Die Hard or Home Alone is on this list” because they are “not Christmas characters.” Heck, even when I jokingly suggested earlier this week after seeing that people clicked on the site to read 20 Greatest Christmas Characters after googling “100 Greatest Christmas Characters” (seriously, who is looking for that list?) that Sailor should make that a reality, he reaffirmed that there are not enough Christmas characters, simply a lot of characters in Christmas movies.
So, yeah, that’s today’s question: do you think Kevin McCallister counts as a Christmas character or is he simply a character in a Christmas movie?
I’ll see you in the trenches.
