Netflix has released an official trailer for The Mitchells vs. The Machines. The Sony Animation film was formerly set to be released as Connected, but was switched back to its production title after being sold to Netflix.
This looks really good. Sony Animation might just have another hit on their hands following Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. I never expected Sony as being the studio to give Pixar a run for their money, but here we are.
Although, it does feel like a lot of plot details were revealed in that trailer. We knew that the father and daughter would have to set aside their differences and work together to defeat the robots, but I didn’t expect Netflix to spoil that for us in the trailer.
Hollywood has had a problem with figuring out how much to spoil in trailers for about the last decade and they need to fix it soon. I’d actually like to be surprised when watching a new movie.
But yeah, the animation in this looks sick and it’s by the same people who made Spider-Verse and The LEGO Movie, so I’ll be watching it regardless of how much the trailers continue to spoil the film.
The Mitchells vs. The Machines begins streaming April 30, 2021 on Netflix.
