Theatrical Release Dates: ‘Chaos Walking’, ‘The Boss Baby 2’ Delayed; ‘Furiosa’ Hits Theaters in 2023

Before 2020 ends, it is time to report some more release date news.

First up, a round of delays. DreamWorks Animation has pushed The Boss Baby: Family Business from March 26, 2021 to September 17, 2021. That’s a pretty short delay, but it does mean families will have to wait a little longer for the upcoming sequel.

Lionsgate has delayed Chaos Walking once again. The upcoming science-fiction adaptation was previously set to be released back in March 2019, but has been continually pushed back. It will now open on March 5, 2021. Will this release date stick? Let’s hope so.

Lastly, A24 has finally given a new release date for The Green Knight. The David Lowery-directed movie starring Dev Patel was originally set to open on May 29, 2020, but was delayed to a previously unannounced date. However, it will now open in theaters on July 30, 2021.

In new release date news, Warner Bros. has dated several of its upcoming films that are currently in development. First, the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa will hit theaters on June 23, 2023. The film will be released eight years after Fury Road became a critical and box office success.

WB has also announced release dates for Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action/CG hybrid film based on the Looney Tunes characters. It will hit theaters on July 21, 2023. Fun fact: James Gunn is contributing to the script.

Finally, a film adaptation of The Color Purple musical will hit theaters on December 20, 2023.
