Universal Pictures has just released a quick 1 minute trailer for Fast & Furious 9 and the official trailer is set to drop in just 3 days from now.
At the end of the eighth installment there was a little twist that Elena (Elsa Pataky) had a baby with Dom (Vin Diesel). Unfortunately she died during the events of that movie leaving Dom with a newborn. Fast 9 picks up a few years later as the baby is now a toddler, and we see Dom is living a more rural life with his wife Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). The teaser leaves things on a pretty ominous note. But hey, we know there’s a tenth film coming so how bad can it get?
Justin Lin, who directed Tokyo Drift, The Fast & the Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6, is back in the director’s chair once again, however screenwriter Chris Morgan who has written every Fast & Furious movie since Tokyo Drift, did not write the screenplay this time around. So it’ll be interesting to see where they are headed in this new installment.
The film also stars Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Michael Rooker, and John Cena.
Plot details have been kept under wraps pretty well so far. So as soon as the trailer drops, hopefully we’ll have something more to share.
Fast & Furious 9 opens in theaters on May 22, 2020.
