Adria Arjona Replaces Taylor Russell in Michael B. Jordan’s ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ Remake

Adria Arjona is leaving a galaxy far, far away behind to play cat and mouse with Michael B. Jordan.

According to Variety, Arjona has replaced Taylor Russell as co-lead in The Thomas Crown Affair, an upcoming reimagining of the classic romantic heist movie that has Jordan attached as both its title star and director. Russell had previously been cast in the insurance investigator role made famous by Faye Dunaway (and later Rene Russo), but departed the project after production had already gotten underway due to “creative differences.”

The Thomas Crown Affair marks the latest high-profile role for Arjona, who has been on a hot streak recently, no doubt thanks to her star-making turn as Bix Caleen in Andor. Her other recent credits include Hit ManBlink Twice, and the upcoming Splitsville.

Drew Pearce wrote the screenplay for Amazon MGM Studios‘ Thomas Crown Affair remake, which is said to be closer in plot to Pierce Brosnan’s 1999 remake than the Steve McQueen original from 1968. This new take will also be set in Europe, with filming taking place right now in London with an ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.

The Thomas Crown Affair is scheduled to hit theaters on March 5, 2027.
