Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.
Now that It: Chapter 2 has been out (and I haven’t seen yet) a few days it got me thinking about the world of remakes/reboots/rebootquels we live in today. There are so many pointless and unnecessary ones out there. So in a similar vein of Billy Dhalgren’s editorial, how many shitty remakes do we need to sift through to find an actual good one?
So the question I ask today is: What movie remake has improved upon the original?
Remakes are a dime a dozen these days but there really are some great ones out there that really do improve on the original it is based on. Ocean’s Eleven is one of those. I’m in no way knocking the original 1960’s version starring Frank Sinatra and his buddies Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. That version is a fun 60s romp with a cool cast of who’s who, but Steven Soderbergh‘s 2001 remake with George Clooney and a cast that would make your head spin, is seriously one of the best remakes out there. It took the basic plot of a Vegas heist, updated it and set the tone for a ton of movies that would come to follow it.
