‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Coming to HBO Max in 2021

After two years of fans rallying around director Zack Snyder to see his vision of the DC Extended Universe film Justice League finished and released, the verdict is in: Zack Snyder’s Justice League will hit HBO Max in 2021.

Snyder made the news today after an online Man of Steel watch party:

“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”

In a press release, Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer chairman Robert Greenblatt stated:

“Since I got here 14 months ago, the chant to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has been a daily drumbeat in our offices and inboxes. Well, the fans have asked, and we are thrilled to finally deliver. At the end of the day, it really is all about them and we are beyond excited to be able to release Zack’s ultimate vision for this film in 2021. This could never have happened if it weren’t for the hard work and combined efforts of the teams at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures.”

This is HUGE news. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut became a major event last year on the two-year anniversary of the 2017 film. Major film stars tweeted in support of the cut, and Snyder has always shown support in the campaign’s efforts.

From what Snyder has teased or released through images, his version of Justice League will be very different from Whedon’s. I’m actually pretty excited to see the film, and I know I complained earlier about HBO Max having zero movies at launch that would get me to subscribe, but dammit they’re going to get my money next year that’s for sure.

It’s rumored that the cut could either be a 4-hour film or a series of six episodes. It’s expected to cost between $20-30 million to finish Snyder’s cut.

Congrats to everyone involved with making this a reality! I can’t wait to see if it will all be worth it!
