Mark your calendars—Fear Street: Prom Queen hits Netflix on May 23, 2025.

Four years after the massive Fear Street trilogy event, which delivered three films over three weeks, the R-rated franchise returns with its fourth installment—just in time for prom season. Set between Fear Street: 1994 and Fear Street: 1978, the new film is directed by Matt Palmer (Calibre).

Plot Synopsis:

Welcome back to Shadyside. As prom season kicks off at Shadyside High, the school’s reigning It Girls are locked in their usual fierce and ruthless competition for the crown. But when an unexpected outsider is nominated—and the popular girls start vanishing one by one—prom night for the class of ’88 turns into a blood-soaked nightmare.
The film boasts an ensemble cast, including India Fowler (The Nevers, Insomnia), Suzanna Son (Red Rocket, The Idol), Fina Strazza (Paper Girls, Above the Shadows), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty, Cinnamon), Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), and Chris Klein (American Pie). Horror veterans Lili Taylor (Outer Range) and Katherine Waterston (The End We Start From) also star.

Additional cast members include Ariana Greenblatt, Darrin Baker, Rebecca Ablack, Ilan O’Driscoll, Damian Romeo, Dakota Taylor, Eden Summer Gilmore, Brennan Clost, and Cecilia Lee.

Written by Matt Palmer & Donald Mcleary, the screenplay is based on Stine’s beloved Fear Street novel series, which kicked off in 1989 with The New Girl.

Netflix also released some promotional posters that pay tribute to the classic Fear Street book covers from the 1990s.
