Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ryan Gosling is officially joining a galaxy far, far away.

His casting, which was first reported back in January, was confirmed during the ongoing Star Wars Celebration Japan. After crashing The Mandalorian and Grogu panel, Shawn Levy brought out Gosling, who shared the stage with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni.

The upcoming movie’s official title was then revealed as Star Wars: Starfighter, with a Memorial Day 2027 release date set. Starfighter will take place approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, with Gosling set to play a brand-new character. Starfighter will go into production this fall.

Star Wars: Starfighter arrives in theaters on May 28, 2027.
