It’s been 13 going on 30 years¹ since 13 Going on 30 was released in theaters in 2004, so of course, Hollywood needs to reboot it for the streaming era.

According to DeadlineEmily Bader and Logan Lerman are set to lead the 13 Going on 30 reboot, with Jennifer Garner aboard as executive producer. Netflix is behind the project, reuniting the streamer with its People We Meet on Vacation star (Bader) and director (Brett Haley).

Sources apparently told Deadline that the pair were eager to reteam following the success of People We Meet on Vacation and found the 13 Going on 30 reboot to be the perfect opportunity. Lerman was reportedly the first choice to play Bader’s romantic counterpart.

13 Going on 30 is one of those rare, perfect films. Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Judy Greer. I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility,” said Haley in a statement.

The director added, “Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful. I also couldn’t be more excited to reunite with Emily Bader after People We Meet on Vacation. She and the amazingly talented Logan Lerman are a magical pairing. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with something that means so much to so many people.”

Plot details for the reboot are under wraps. Hannah Marks wrote the screenplay with revisions by Flora Greeson. The original 13 Going on 30 was billed as a fantasy rom-com centered on Jenna Rink (Christa B. Allen), a 13-year-old girl who magically wakes up as her 30-year-old self (Garner) and must navigate adulthood while rediscovering who she really is.

Do you think 13 Going on 30 needs a modern-day reboot?

¹) I don’t care the math doesn’t check out, I wanted to make that pun.
