’28 Years Later’ Trailer Hits Hard

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Sony Pictures has finally released the official teaser for the long-awaited 28 Years Later. It’s so minimal and creepy with that voiceover playing over quick glimpses of the film. I can’t wait.

Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are back baby!!

28 Years Later was shot entirely using an iPhone 15 Pro Max, similar in vein to how 28 Days Later was filmed on consumer cameras and not high-end movie ones. This film is said to be the first of a planned new trilogy of films about the rage virus outbreak, all written by Garland and they will be produced by him and Boyle. Candyman and The Marvels director Nia DaCosta is set to helm the second of these films, 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple. Not sure how I feel about that title just yet, but based on the skulls seen stacked in the trailer and used in the poster below, I’m sure they have a plan.

Well I need to dig more into this voiceover used in the trailer. All I know right now is that it is a recording of Taylor Holmes’ 1915 recording of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Boots”. It is a poem about the monotony of British infantry marches during the Boer War in South Africa at the turn of the 20th century. And apparently, this creepy recording has been used in military training for its psychological effects. So now I need to know more about it all. Kinda like how I got sucked into learning about Numbers Stations aftere watching lost 20 years ago.

Plot Synopsis:

Sometime after the events of 28 Weeks Later, the Rage Virus has returned, and a group of survivors must face a world ravaged by hordes of the infected.

28 Years Later opens in theaters on June 20, 2025.
