Barry Keoghan and Denzel Washington are set to join Paul Mescal in Gladiator 2.
According to Deadline, Keoghan is in negotiations to join the cast of Paramount‘s sequel to Gladiator as Emperor Geta. Ridley Scott is set to direct and produce the film from a screenplay by David Scarpa.
Deadline also reports that Washington has snagged an undisclosed role in the film. This will mark the first time Washington and Scott have worked together since the hit crime drama American Gangster.
Gladiator 2 will follow Lucius (Mescal), “the son of Lucilla, who now is a grown man as the story takes place years after the first film ended.”
Gladiator 2 opens in theaters on November 22, 2024.
