The Brave and the Bold has finally revealed its screenwriter.

First reported by The InSneider and confirmed by The Hollywood ReporterChristina Hodson is scripting the Batman movie, which will be set in the DC Universe. Her previous screenwriting credits include BumblebeeBirds of Prey, the shelved Batgirl movie, and an unproduced Batman Beyond script.

According to THR‘s sources, Hodson has been working on the project since last fall for DC Studios. Andy Muschietti remains attached as director. This means that The Brave and the Bold will have the same creative team as 2023’s The Flash.

Announced in January 2023, The Brave and the Bold will be based on writer Grant Morrison and artist Andy Kubert’s run on DC Comics’ Batman, specifically the story arc where Bruce Wayne learns that he has fathered a son, Damian, with Talia al Ghul.

With Hodson attached, one would think that The Brave and the Bold was moving towards an official greenlight. Well, not so fast, as DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently shared on Threads that the focus right now remains on Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II.

Gunn posted on the social media site that an update on The Brave and the Bold will not be given until “an actionable script [is] ready,” adding, “we’re well into Batman 2, and I wouldn’t want to cloud the Batsphere until after that. […] I’m also not going to have two Batman movies come out in the same year.”
