There have been several noteworthy castings of late, so let’s run them down!
First up, per The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Pattinson has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s next movie, which remains heavily under wraps. The actor, who previously starred in the filmmaker’s 2020 movie Tenet, now joins a stacked cast that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Zendaya. Update to the update: Charlize Theron has also joined the cast!
Next, Isabel May, best known for starring in Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, has landed a leading role opposite Neve Campbell in Scream 7. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will play Sidney Prescott’s daughter (name to be announced) in the slasher sequel. No other cast members have been officially confirmed although Courteney Cox and Patrick Dempsey are in talks to return.
What now? Well, Deadline reports that Idris Elba has joined Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe reboot as Man-At-Arms (what a name). The movie currently boasts a cast that includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, and Camila Mendes as Teela. Jared Leto has also been rumored for Skeletor, but that casting hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Moving on, The Hollywood Reporter writes that Emma Mackey and Samuel L. Jackson have boarded J.J. Abrams‘ untitled movie (no, not the one he’s making with Dwayne Johnson). This feature is set up at Warner Bros. and will also star Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega. Filming on the movie is expected to begin in the UK in Spring 2025.
Finally, Jessica Biel is in talks to star opposite John Cena in Matchbox, an upcoming live-action feature based on the die-cast toy vehicle line of the same name. Sam Hargrave, who directed Netflix’s Extraction movies starring Chris Hemsworth, is set to helm the adaptation from a screenplay written by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper.
