Naomi Ackie could be going from the Star Wars galaxy to the DC Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ackie is in early talks to join Clayface. The actor rose to prominence playing Jannah in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and pop icon Whitney Houston in I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Her most recent film credits include Blink Twice and Mickey 17.
If cast, Ackie would become the second actor to board the DCU movie after Tom Rhys Harries, who was cast last month to play Matt Hagen/Clayface, a promising up-and-coming actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster.
“As a last resort, the actor turns to a fringe Elizabeth Holmes-style scientist for help. At first, the experiment is a success, but … well, it wouldn’t be a horror movie if the story ended right there, would it?” notes THR. The movie has been described as having shades and structure of The Fly, the 1986 horror classic from David Cronenberg.
Speak No Evil director James Watkins is attached to helm the R-rated horror movie. Mike Flanagan wrote the screenplay, with rewrites by Hossein Amini. Production is slated to begin in August with a reported budget of around $40 million.
Clayface is scheduled to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
