The team behind 2022’s Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers is set to put their unique twist on another set of beloved Disney characters.

According to Deadline, director Akiva Schaffer and writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand have boarded Stepsisters, a new live-action film that focuses on Anastasia and Drizella, the evil stepsisters of Cinderella.

Schaffer, Gregor, and Mand are best known for Chip n’ Dale and last year’s The Naked Gun reboot. Schaffer will direct Stepsisters in addition to rewriting Michael Montemayor’s script with Gregor & Mand.

No word yet on when Disney is aiming to get Stepsisters into production. The trio are currently filming the Netflix action comedy Protecting Jared, starring Jason Momoa and Samberg, on location in Hawaii.

Do you think Stepsisters is the right direction for Disney’s Cinderella franchise?
