Two major upcoming Disney movies have just landed release dates.
Lilo & Stitch 2 is set to hit theaters on May 26, 2028 (a.k.a. Memorial Day weekend), with Incredibles hitting the big screen a month later on June 16, 2028, per Deadline. Disney had previously reserved both dates on the Comscore calendar for untitled films.
“If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” is clearly Disney’s logic here with Lilo & Stitch 2‘s release date. The studio opened the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch on Memorial Day weekend last year, where it took in $182 million over the holiday. The movie ended its theatrical run with $1.038 billion at the worldwide box office.
A sequel was announced in June 2025, with Chris Sanders tapped to write the screenplay. It marks Sanders’ first involvement in the Lilo & Stitch franchise since the original 2002 animated film film beyond providing the voice of Stitch.
As for Incredibles 3, the Pixar threequel boasts a screenplay by Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the previous two movies. Unfortunately, Bird will not be directing Incredibles 3, with Elemental director Peter Sohn tapped as his replacement. Sohn, whose Pixar credits include the first two Incredibles, Elemental, and The Good Dinosaur, was specifically chosen to carry The Incredibles torch by Bird and Pixar CCO Pete Docter.
Incredibles 3 is one of three sequels currently in development at Pixar, with Coco 2 and Monsters, Inc. 3 also on the way, while Toy Story 5 is completed and set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
Does either sequel interest you enough to head to the theater in 2028 to watch it? Let us know in the comments!
