Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune might be the definitive adaptation of the beloved classic science fiction book by Frank Herbert. It’s big enough to have made an impression on the popular culture (even if only because of popcorn buckets) but it’s also not frivolous like most of the big budget fare we are subjected to every year by big studios.

But what would the movie look like if it had come out in the 1950s?

Well, a YouTube channel called Abandoned Film has attempted to answer that question with the help of artificial intelligence.
