I, for as long as I can remember, have been obsessed with the films that never were. Like Jodorowsky’s Dune or Hitchcock’s Kaleidoscope or Kubrick’s Napoleon — those great potential masterpieces that, for whatever reason, never got made. One such gem the cinema God’s have denied us, was Henry Selick’s The Shadow King. Designed to be Pixar’s first stop motion feature, the project was killed after Disney pulled the plug on it after spending a reported 50 million dollars on it. To find out what it was, why Disney got cold feet and why it’s a terrible shame it never came to fruition, you gotta watch Supervoid Cinemas excellent video detailing the entire history.

‘Henry Selick’s THE SHADOW KING – The Greatest Movies Never Made’ is among a series of videos on the channel that’s all about, you guessed it – films that never got made. So if you like what you saw and wanted to know more about some other unmade projects, such as Scorsese’s Sinatra biopic or Proya’s Paradise Lost, I highly recommend checking them out.

What did you think about Supervoid Cinema’s video? Are you fan of Selick or stop motion in general? Or how about unmade films?
