Legendary‘s Dune franchise is alive and well.
HBO has renewed its original drama series, Dune: Prophecy, co-produced with Legendary Television, for a second season. The renewal comes ahead of the Season 1 finale, which debuts Sunday, December 22 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Across Max territories, the first episode has amassed approximately 15 million viewers.

Dune: Prophecy is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. “From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit,” reads the series logline. The series stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Mark Strong, among others.
In addition to Dune: Prophecy Season 2, Warner Bros. and Denis Villeneuve are in early development on a feature-length adaptation of Dune: Messiah.
