Incredibles 3 will be unlike the previous two Incredibles movies in one major way.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Brad Bird will not direct the third installment in the beloved Pixar franchise. Peter Sohn, whose Pixar credits include the first two Incredibles, Elemental, and The Good Dinosaur, will instead direct Incredibles 3.
Bird is still attached to the threequel as its sole screenwriter, and will also produce alongside Dana Murray. Scheduling issues are believed to be behind Bird not returning as director, as the filmmaker is currently in pre-production on Ray Gunn at Skydance. Sohn was specifically chosen to carry The Incredibles torch by Bird and Pixar CCO Pete Docter.
Incredibles 3 was announced by Pixar at Disney’s D23 event in August 2024. A release date has not yet been set for the animated sequel. We’ll keep you posted.
