Lionsgate isn’t ready to let its cash-cow John Wick franchise die yet, meaning it’s time to say, “Be seeing you [again],” to the title assassin.
Per ComicBook.com, Jenefer Brown, EVP and Head of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate, confirmed that John Wick: Chapter 5 is indeed in development at the studio. “This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways,” shared Brown. “Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie and [we] can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spinoffs to come, a TV series, video game.”
After being pressed for more info on Chapter 5, she simply added: “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film … [John Wick] may be [dead]. We are all on baited breath waiting to find out.”
The John Wick Universe Continues to Expand
Despite *spoiler* John Wick dying at the end of 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4, the character will seemingly be resurrected for Chapter 5, which is now one of three movies in early development at Lionsgate. There is also a Caine spinoff movie starring Donnie Yen and an anime-styled prequel in the works, with the latter set to reveal how John Wick was able to leave the High Table.
Speaking of the High Table, a new live-action television series is in development, titled John Wick: Under the High Table, that will deal with the aftermath of John Wick killing powerful High Table member, the Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont, in Chapter 4.
“John Wick has left the world of the High Table in a tenuous position and a collection of new characters will look to make a name for themselves while some of the franchise stalwart characters remain committed to the old-world order The series will combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age,” reads the series logline.
The franchise’s first movie spinoff, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, will be released on June 6, 2025.
Do you want to see John Wick resurrected for another movie or should he remain dead?
