Lionsgate has just shuffled a whole bunch of its upcoming slate of films. If you were looking forward to any of their films scheduled to come out in 2020 well we have some bad news for you: it most likely just got bumped to 2021.
Here are all the films affected with their new release dates:
- Antebellum finds “successful author Veronica Henley trapped in a nightmarish reality.” It has now been scheduled for August 21, 2020.
- Fatale is an upcoming suspenseful and provocative psychological thriller starring Michael Ealy. It hits theaters October 30, 2020.
- Voyagers is about “a group of young men and women, bred for enhanced intelligence and to suppress emotional impulses, [who] embark on an expedition to colonize a distant planet.” It will hit theaters on November 25, 2020.
- The Asset stars Michael Keaton and Maggie Q as “two of the world’s premier assassins traversing the globe competing for high profile contracts.” It now hit theaters April 23, 2021.
- Spiral, the upcoming Saw reboot/sequel, has also been delayed to May 21, 2021.
- Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar is about lifelong friends Barb and Star who “embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time…ever.” The film will hit theaters July 16, 2021.
- The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard reunites Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson for the sequel alongside Salma Hayek, Antonia Banderas, and Morgan Freeman. It will now hit theaters August 20, 2021.
- American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story is the “true story of now Kurt Warner, who went from stocking shelves at a supermarket to become a two time NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP and Hall of Fame quarterback.” The film now releases December 10, 2021.
- John Wick: Chapter 4, the hotly anticipated followup starring Keanu Reeves, has been delayed a year to May 27, 2022.
Out of the delayed films, I have to say I’m pretty bummed about John Wick: Chapter 4. Reeves has to finish shooting The Matrix 4 first, which to be honest I could care less about. I want more John Wick in my life. Hopefully this will be the only delay the film experiences.
