Another day, another wave of delays and early VOD releases.
Lionsgate announced yesterday that it would be delaying its upcoming movies Antebellum, Run, and Spiral in the wake of the escalating coronavirus pandemic. No new release dates have been announced at this time. The movies were originally supposed to open on April 24, May 8, and May 15.
In a statement on Instagram, the studio said:
“With theaters across the country closed, Lionsgate will be postponing the releases of ANTEBELLUM, RUN and SPIRAL. We can’t wait to share these films with the world when this challenging moment is behind us.”
In VOD news, Warner Bros. has made Just Mercy, starring Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx, available to buy right now on digital. It will hit VOD on March 24.
Also hitting VOD that date is Bloodshot. Sony has decided to make it available for digital purchase less than two weeks after hitting theaters. Ouch.
At least in self-isolation, you’ll still be able to watch new releases.
What films have you been watching while under “house arrest”? Will you check out Just Mercy or Bloodshot?
