Marvel Taps ‘Shang-Chi’ Director for ‘Spider-Man 4’

Spider-Man 4 has found its director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Destin Daniel Cretton is in talks to direct the fourth Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie, which will once again be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The filmmaker is already part of the blockbuster franchise, having helmed 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Cretton succeeds Jon Watts as director of Holland’s Spider-Man series. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are back on script duties, while Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal are producing. Production will reportedly begin in early 2025.

No word yet on how this will affect the Shang-Chi sequel, which Cretton is still attached to direct. Personally, I’d rather have Shang-Chi 2 than Spider-Man 4 (yeah, you heard me!).

Spider-Man 4 is without a release date at this time. We’ll keep you posted.

What do you think of Destin Daniel Cretton directing Spider-Man 4?
