Two up-and-coming stars may be in the mix for Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot.

According to trusted insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, Odessa A’zion and Peter Claffey are reportedly being considered for the roles of Rogue and Beast in the X-Men reboot. Margaret Qualley and Jesse Plemons were at one point rumored to be in the mix for those roles, but that ship has seemingly sailed.

If the casting pans out, A’zion and Claffey would star in the new X-Men movie alongside Sadie Sink, who is expected to be playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Other actors who have been rumored for the MCU’s X-Men lineup include Julia Butters as Kitty Pryde and Jack Champion as Cyclops.

Jake Schreier is directing the X-Men reboot, having previously helmed Thunderbolts* for Marvel Studios. Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo recently boarded the project and are set to rewrite Michael Lesslie’s screenplay, which itself was a revision of an earlier draft by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean.

Odessa A’zion & Peter Claffey Are Stars on the Rise

While A’zion has been in Hollywood for the better part of a decade now, she really exploded last year, thanks to her supporting roles in the films Until Dawn and Marty Supreme and the television series I Love LA. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s ScreenAge Wasteland Awards for her performance in Marty Supreme.

As for Claffey, his acting career has pretty much flown under the radar until this year, when he fronted the latest Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He stars as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall in the series, opposite Dexter Sol Ansell as Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen. His other TV credits include Bad SistersWreck, and Vikings: Valhalla.

The X-Men reboot is expected to be one of the first MCU movies released after the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga in 2027. Marvel Studios currently has three release dates lined up for 2028 — May 5, July 28, and December 15 — any of which could go to X-Men.

Other MCU movies in active development include Black Panther 3BladeShang-Chi 2The Fantastic Four 2Deadpool 4, and Armor Wars, although the latter could very well have been shelved.
