Mike Flanagan can’t stop, won’t stop adapting Stephen King novels.
According to Deadline, Flanagan will direct and write the screenplay for a new adaptation of The Mist. He will also produce through Red Room alongside Tyler Thompson and Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone. The movie is in development at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Based on King’s acclaimed 1980 novella, The Mist centers around a small town in Maine consumed by a thick, mysterious fog from which creatures emerge to attack the townsfolk. The novella was previously turned into a 2007 film and a 2017 TV series.
The Mist will be Flanagan’s fourth feature adaptation of a King novel, after Gerald’s Game (2017), Doctor Sleep (2019), and The Life of Chuck (2025), but fifth overall, as he’s also in post-production on a Carrie miniseries for Prime Video. He’s also supposed to be adapting The Dark Tower for the small screen, but who knows if that will ever happen.
Do you think The Mist needs a new adaptation?
