Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is getting a sequel.

On April Fools’ Day, it’s important to fact-check where news is coming from because some people might want to try and convince you something amazing or shocking is happening when in reality it isn’t. That’s why people were hesitant to believe a report from The Playlist claiming that a sequel to Quentin Tarantino‘s 2019 movie was in the works.

Well, Deadline has since corroborated the original report meaning that this project is no joke. The kicker in this is that Tarantino will not be directing the follow-up. However, he did write the screenplay, which is an evolved version of The Movie Critic, the screenplay that almost became his tenth and final film. Brad Pitt‘s OUATIH character Cliff Booth is reported to be the focal point of the untitled sequel.

Pitt reportedly showed David Fincher the script and he’s seemingly agreed to direct. Now, here comes the other kicker. Since Fincher is exclusive to Netflix, the movie will be made and released straight to streaming, which is absolutely wild given that the 2019 flick grossed almost $400 million worldwide.

Is Leonardo DiCaprio Coming Back as Rick Dalton?

Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly in negotiations with Netflix to reprise his OUATIH role as Rick Dalton, according to The InSneider. Sneider states it’s “a small role” as the focus of the flick is on Cliff not Dalton this time around.

The OUATIH sequel is being fast-tracked and could shoot in California this July if all these pieces fall into place in time. We’ll keep you posted.
