Amazon has announced a sequel to its 2024 smash hit, Road House.
Per Variety, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to reprise his leading role as Dalton in the untitled sequel, which was unveiled during Amazon’s Upfront event in New York. “I am so ready, like I love this character, I love this world, I love the thing that we’ve created, and I can’t wait to bring more,” Gyllenhaal said at the Upfront presentation.
Per Amazon MGM Studios, Road House “has attracted nearly 80 million worldwide viewers to-date. The film premiered on Prime Video March 21 and attracted a record-breaking over 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends, becoming Amazon MGM Studios’ most-watched produced film debut ever on a worldwide basis.”
Plot details remain under wraps at this time. It’s unclear if Liman will be involved in the sequel, as no filmmaking deals are in place, according to sources. It is also unknown if any other cast members besides Gyllenhaal will return for the sequel. We’ll keep you posted.
