It looks like Patrick Dempsey wanted too much money for Scream 7 because Mark Kincaid is no longer Sidney Prescott’s husband.
According to Deadline, Joel McHale has been cast as Mark Evans in the seventh Scream film and is already in Atlanta shooting his scenes. Although Dempsey confirmed in October 2024 that he was in talks to return as Mark Kincaid, it looks like it never worked out, with McHale’s “New Mark” being no doubt a quick fix to the already written screenplay.
McHale joins a crew of newcomers who include Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp. As for returning stars, Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, and, per Variety, Jasim Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin. With Brown now officially part of the cast, both Meeks-Martins will be in Scream 7, further tying this new installment closer to the latest legacy sequels, especially Scream VI which did not feature Campbell’s Sidney.
Directed by Scream creator Kevin Williamson, Scream 7 is scheduled to hit theaters on February 27, 2026.
