Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.
Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.
According to insider Jeff Sneider, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav wants James Gunn to introduce the DC Universe’s Batman as soon as possible. One idea Zazzy has reportedly pitched is making Robert Pattinson’s Batman the DCU’s Dark Knight. Now, both Matt Reeves and Gunn have, in the past, dismissed this from every happening. Gunn had, I guess, asked Reeves after he took the reins of DC if Reeves was interested in being part of the DCU. Reeves said, “No.” Gunn has his own plans for the DCU’s Batman, which wouldn’t work with Pattinson’s Batman.

Of course, Zazzy gonna zazz, so, the question I ask today is: should Matt Reeves’ The Batman Saga be retroactively added to James Gunn’s DC Universe?
If you had asked me two years ago when Gunn was first announced as head of DC Studios, I’d have said, “YES!” However, a lot of information has come out since then. For one, Gunn is going to focus on an already established Bat-Family, meaning I’m finally going to get Nightwing. Two, Reeves has come out repeatedly stating that his Batman Saga will be “realistic” and “grounded”. In other words, it’s not going to dip into the fantastical that fans have been desperately wanting to see for years. Give us Clayface and Poison Ivy and the giant penny in the Batcave, dammit!
So, I’d rather keep them separate. Also, Pattinson is not going to want to be Batman for the next decade, showing up more than once a year for a quick cameo.
So what about you, screenagers? Would you like for Robert Pattinson’s Batman to join the DCU?
I’ll see you in the trenches.
