Sony‘s live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has found its Link and Zelda.

In a surprise announcement today on Nintendo‘s official X account, Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth had been cast to play Zelda and Link, respectively:

“This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Both Bragason and Ainsworth are largely unknown actors, with few credits to their names. Bragason is best known for her main roles in the television series Renegade Nell and The Jetty, while Ainsworth voiced Pinocchio in Disney’s live-action remake and has played Mark Critch in CBC’s Son of a Critch since 2022.

A live-action Zelda movie was officially announced in November 2023. Wes Ball (The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) is attached to direct the adaptation. Ball will also produce, along with Joe Hartwick Jr., under their Oddball Entertainment banner, with Miyamoto and Avi Arad also producing.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
