What Do We Think About Josh Brolin Playing the DCU’s Hal Jordan?

Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.

Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Josh Brolin has reportedly been offered the role of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the upcoming HBO superhero drama series, Lanterns, which will be part of James Gunn’s DC Universe. The comic book fans on X (fka Twitter) are split on the potential casting, with some viewing him as too old for the role. Others believe that Gunn may be going the Parallax route with Hal, which would likely see Brolin’s tenure as the Green Lantern end after Lanterns does.

But how do the screenagers feel about this possible casting, especially after Brolin played two distinct Marvel characters (Thanos and Cable)? That’s why, the question I ask today is: do you like Josh Brolin as Hal Jordan?

I’m fine with it. If they’re only going to use Hal for one season and then kill him off (just like Parallax), then I’d rather see someone like Tom Cruise in the role, just because I know he has no interest in a long-term superhero role. But Brolin has the acting chops. And it’s clear Gunn wants John Stewart to be the younger Lantern in the DCU (instead of Guy Gardner and Hal), so Brolin seems like a good fit.

So what about you, screenagers? Would you be fine with Josh Brolin playing Hal Jordan in the DC Universe?

I’ll see you in the trenches.
