Will Smith is ready to make some sequels.
The actor made a surprise appearance on xQc’s Twitch livestream where he offered some updates on Hancock 2 and I am Legend 2. Regarding Hancock 2, Smith stated (via Deadline), “There’s a really cool Hancock 2 idea. We haven’t even talked about it. I’m going to give you one little piece. Zendaya [is] being approached for a role in Hancock 2.”
For the unfamiliar, Hancock is a 2008 superhero movie revolving around Smith’s titular character, who is an amnesiac, alcoholic, reckless superhero trying to remember his past.
As for I Am Legend 2, which will be a follow-up to the alternate ending of the original movie, Smith shared (via Complex), “Me and Michael B. Jordan have sat down for about a week, just went through character stuff. That’s a real thing. I’d love to work with that dude.”
Released in 2007, I Am Legend followed Smith’s character in a nearly deserted postapocalyptic New York City amid zombies. Akiva Goldsman is returning to write the screenplay for the sequel. No director is officially attached, although Warner Bros. was eyeing Steven Caple Jr., who directed Jordan in Creed II, back in July 2024.
