Talk about a redemption arc for Wonder Man.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe series has been renewed for a second season. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will return as Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, respectively.
Wonder Man co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest are also on board for the second season. Guest returns as showrunner and executive producer, while Cretton returns as director and executive producer.
It’s an impressive turn of events for Wonder Man, which at one point was at risk of being scrapped by Marvel Studios. When production was paused due to the 2023 Hollywood Strikes, Marvel considered not moving forward with the series. Luckily, they did, as Wonder Man premiered to glowing reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series is certified fresh with a 91% approval rating, based on 109 reviews.
Wonder Man becomes only the third live-action MCU series produced by Marvel Studios to receive more than one season, after Loki and Daredevil: Born Again. The renewal signifies that Marvel is finally ready to ditch the “big-budget movie-style” limited series format and return to a more traditional television model. Now, how about we renew Hawkeye for a Season 2, Marvel?
No word yet on when Wonder Man Season 2 will begin production. We’ll keep you posted.
Are you surprised Wonder Man got a second season? What do you think the future holds for Simon Williams in the MCU?
