‘Apocalypse Now: Final Cut’ Trailer

Francis Ford Coppola has just released a trailer for an ultimate version of his classic 1979 Vietnam War drama Apocalypse Now. Restored from the original negative for the first time ever and digitally remastered for IMAX with crystal clear images and powerful surround sound.

This Final Cut version of the film clocks in at 183 minutes as compared to the original run time of 153 minutes, but is also shorter than his Redux version which was 202 minutes. Here’s what Coppola had to say about it himself.

“It’s my favorite version because I feel the first one we released was clipped too short and REDUX is a little too long. This one is ‘just right.'” – Francis Ford Coppola

Plot Synopsis:

At the height of the Vietnam war, experienced soldier and covert operative Captain Benjamin Willard withdraws from a drunken and disheveled state to accept his most daring and secretive mission yet. To assassinate a renegade Special Forces Colonel who sees himself as a god.

Apocalypse Now: Final Cut will hit select theaters for two nights only: August 15th and 18th. Then it will be released on VOD and 4K Blu-ray.

What do you guys think? Interested in seeing this at all? I thought the Redux version was a bit of a slog to get through, so hopefully this will help trim some of the fat.
