‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’ Trailer: The Classic Judy Blume Novel Heads to the Big Screen

Lionsgate has released an official trailer for Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. an upcoming adaptation of Judy Blume‘s 1970 novel of the same name. Let’s take a look.

I’ve only read Judy Blume’s Fudge series, but I’ll definitely take a chance on this film. I mean, look at that cast! I think that’s enough to get anyone interested.

Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret stars Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man) as Margaret Simon, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) as Barbara Simon, Benny Safdie (Licorice Pizza) as Herb Simon, and Kathy Bates (Misery) as Sylvia Simon.

 

Plot Synopsis:

For over fifty years, Judy Blume’s classic and groundbreaking novel Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. has impacted generations with its timeless coming of age story, insightful humor, and candid exploration of life’s biggest questions. In Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation, 11-year-old Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) is uprooted from her life in New York City for the suburbs of New Jersey, going through the messy and tumultuous throes of puberty with new friends in a new school. She relies on her mother, Barbara (Rachel McAdams), who is also struggling to adjust to life outside the big city, and her adoring grandmother, Sylvia (Kathy Bates), who isn’t happy they moved away and likes to remind them every chance she gets.

Directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret opens in theaters on April 28, 2023.
