‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Trailer: James Cameron Tries to Get Us Interested in Pandora Again

20th Century Studios has released an official teaser trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-awaited sequel to 2009’s Avatar. Will it be worth the wait? Let’s take a look.

I’m going to be really disappointed in the world if this breaks all sorts of box office records and ends up grossing $3 billion at the worldwide box office. The first Avatar was a product of its time. If it was released today in 2022, it wouldn’t even make $1 billion let alone $2 billion. It came out at the perfect time of everyone going to see movies in 3D and CGI/motion-capture finally being able to present breathtaking visuals. The Way of Water will actually need a good story in order to succeed.

Plot Synopsis:

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters December 16, 2022.
