‘Batman: Soul of the Dragon’ Trailer: The Caped Crusader Swings Into the 1970s

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released an official trailer for Batman: Soul of the Dragon, the latest animated superhero movie from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line.

Now that the DC Universe Original Movies line has ended its shared universe, it looks like they are back to releasing standalone Elseworlds tales. Taking Batman on an R-rated adventure in the ’70s is a pretty cool idea, and I can’t wait to see what the finished product looked like.

The voice ensemble cast of Batman: Soul of the Dragon features David Giuntoli (Grimm) as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum) as Richard Dragon, Kelly Hu (X2: X-Men United) as Lady Shiva, and Michael Jai White as Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger, reprising the role he previously played in live-action on Arrow. The rest of the voice cast includes James Hong, Josh Keaton, Grey Griffin, Chris Cox, Erica Luttrell, Robin Atkin Downes, Patrick Seitz, Jamie Chung, and Eric Bauza.

Plot Synopsis:

Set in the midst of the swinging 1970s, this Elseworlds adventure finds Bruce Wayne training under a master sensei. It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. The lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past. It will take the combined efforts of Batman, world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner, and Lady Shiva and their mentor O-Sensei to battle the monsters of this world and beyond!

Batman: Soul of the Dragon will be released on Digital January 12, 2021, and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray on January 26, 2021.
